Hand and upper limb surgeon, she has been a professor of the postgraduate courses of Orthopedics as well as the subspecialty in hand surgery of the New Granada Military University in Bogota, Colombia.

She is one of the most renowned hand surgeons and has achieved an increasingly important gender participation in Latin America, achieving the representation of women by being the organizer of several AO courses dedicated to the presence of women in hand surgery.

She participated in the Board of Directors of Asocimano (Colombian Association of Hand Surgery) as President during the period 2022 – 2023.

In the last World IFSSH Congress in London, she was elected as the representative of South America before the Executive Committee of the IFSSH, work that is still being done and from there she has achieved the participation of the IFSSH in multiple congresses in the region, achieving the growth of the specialty not only in Colombia but throughout Latin America.

She is a plastic surgeon at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, her specialty is peripheral nerve surgery for acquired nerve injuries and peripheral neuropathies.

Regularly perform procedures to reanimate limbs, relieve patients’ debilitating pain and restore sensation for those with nerve injuries.

She is one of the best peripheral nerve surgeons in the world, and is dedicated to growing this subspeciality to improve patients quality of life.

Her research is focused on developing treatments to make nerve regrowth more efficient and faster. She is also exploring strategies for rewiring nerves with the goal of preventing muscle atrophy, restoring motion and relieving pain.

She has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles in addition to other publications.

She serve as the chair of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Also serve on the scientific advisory board for the International Symposium of Neural Regeneration, the board of the Plastic Surgery Research Council and the American Society for Peripheral Nerve.

She is member of ASSH and in our Course she is representing this Association.

Dr. Andrea Atzei is Orthopedic and Plastic Surgeon and has obtained the European Qualification Diploma in Hand Surgery (recognized by the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand / FESSH).

Dr. Atzei worked at the Hand Surgery Operational Unit of the “GB Rossi” Polyclinic in Verona from 1993 (year of establishment of the department) to 2012. Currently, he collaborates as a freelancer at Private Facilities accredited to the SSN.

He has performed more than 7000 surgeries on cases of elective and emergency surgery in all fields of hand, wrist and elbow surgery and neuro-vascular reconstructive microsurgery.

The fields of greatest experience of Dr. Atzei are reconstructive microsurgery of the hand and arthroscopy of the wrist and small joints.

He is the author of numerous scientific publications at national and international level, being the author of one of the most used classifications actually for lesions of the triangular Fibrocartilage Complex
He is member of Italian Society for surgery of the Hand and its delegate before the IFSSH, Active member of FESSH and renamed member of IWAS.

Dr. Mudgal received his MBBS degree from Bombay University, India in 1983.

He completed an Orthopaedic Residency in Bombay (1988) as well as one in Liverpool, UK (1992) leading to his MS (Orth.) and MCh (Orth.) degrees.

Dr. Mudgal went on to complete an additional Orthopaedic Residency in the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program in Boston, and a Fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University.

He joined the faculty at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2004 and is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School. Prior to joining Mass General, he was responsible for the creation of and was the Director of the Hand Surgery Service at the Cambridge Health Alliance in Cambridge, MA.

Dr. Mudgal is an expert in upper extremity trauma and has published extensively on fractures, tendon injuries affecting the hand, wrist forearm and elbow.

He is the Chairman of the AO North America Hand Education Committee. In this role, along with the members of the Committee, he has been responsible for the creation and dissemination of web-based educational content (Must know series) (Sage on Stage series) offered by AONA. He has either moderated or participated in multiple webinars in North America as well as in India.

Dr. Daniel J. Nagle is an orthopedist in Chicago.

He received his medical degree from Universite Libre de Bruxelles Faculty of Medicine, he was resident at Northwestern University, McGraw Medical Center (Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and be a Fellow in Hand surgery in the University of Louisville Hospital in Hand Surgery.

He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery as Orthopedic Surgeon and Hand surgeon.

He acted as President of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (1999 – 2000), President of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand during 2010 – 2011, and Secretary General of the International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand in 2016.

He is now the President of the Executive Committee of the IFSSH.

David Warwick is Consultant Hand Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton since 1998 as well as visiting Hand Surgeon to the States of Jersey and Bailiwick of Guernsey. He is Club Surgeon for Southampton Football Club.

His teaching, research, and administrative contributions were rewarded by the University of Southampton with an Honorary Professorship in 2013. His NHS contribution has been rewarded with a Bronze Clinical Excellence award in 2012 renewed in 2016. He was awarded the Gold Medal in the European Diploma of Hand Surgery in 2004 and was awarded the Hunterian Professorship in 1998 for his work on Orthopaedic Thrombosis.

He is was President of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand in 2020.

He is the current Secretary General of the International Federation for Societies for Surgery of the Hand, a leading role in world hand surgery.

He is on the Editorial Board of the BJJ and served 2 terms on the Editorial Board of the JHS(E).

He has written over 20 book chapters and is Editor of the Oxford Handbook of Hand Surgery (2009, 2018), the European Textbook of Dupuytren’s Disease (2015) and Apley & Solomon’s System of Orthopaedics and Trauma (2001, 2010, 2017, 2021).

Dr. Donald H. Lalonde, MD, BSc, MSc, FRCSC
He is clearly one of the most influential and innovative surgeons in the history of plastic surgery.

Dr. Donald Lalonde is a professsor in the divison of plastic surgery at Dalhousie University Saint John Canada.

Dr. Lalonde obtained his MD degree from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He did his residency training at McGill University in Montreal, where he also obtained his MSc in experimental surgery.

He is Past President of the Canadian Society for Surgery of the Hand and was the first Canadian to be elected to Chair of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is the Past President, of the American Association for Hand Surgery and Past President, Canadia Society of Plastic Surgeons.

He has over Over 150 papers and 30 book chapters and is the Editor of the Wide Awake Hand Surgery book Thieme Pub New York first edition 2016, second edition 2021.

He is now considered by many the “Father of WALANT surgery”.

After studying the specialty in Orthopedic Surgery, he traveled to the United States to the Mayo Clinic, where he developed an impressive research task in the field of biomechanics that earned him scientific recognition worldwide.

After his return to Spain, he co-founded the Institut Kaplan with Dr. Alberto Lluch. He continued to investigate his favorite topic, biomechanics, at the University of Barcelona and the Autonomous University of Barcelona without losing contact with the biomechanics laboratory of the Mayo Clinic with which he has continued to collaborate, research that has earned recognition as one of the greatest leaders of this basic science in wrist and hand.

He has also been president of the Spanish Society of Hand Surgery and general secretary of the European Federation (FESSH), and of the International Federation of Hand Surgery Societies (IFSSH), Federation of which he was President in the period 2019 – 2022.

His teaching work is enormous and he has been invited in practically every country of the world to the National Congresses of his Hand Surgery Societies. Such has been the recognition of his lectures, an example of clarity.

He continues to collaborate with the biomechanics laboratory of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, an area that he is passionate about and manages incredibly, being one of the professors who handles the most clarity when exposing this topic.
